Iapetus Wine

  • The name Iapetus signifies more than just the ancient ocean that once dominated the Champlain Valley. It embodies a narrative stretching back hundreds of millions of years, a profound connection to both the past and the future. As geological forces have continuously reshaped the landscape, so too will Iapetus represent an evolution in the winery's approach to viticulture. It signifies a shift in perspective, in scale, and in the way they interact with the land.

Unwavering in their core principles, the winery remains dedicated to continuous experimentation, discovery, and improvement in their stewardship of this historic terroir. In this sense, Iapetus is merely a single frame in a continuous film, a snapshot of a present moment that will continue to evolve in the years to come. Ultimately, Iapetus represents the essence of their wine – a product of the land's rich history and their unwavering commitment to its future.

  • The winery prioritizes sustainable practices, believing that healthy soil leads to exceptional fruit and wines. They minimize their environmental footprint through reduced mowing, responsible material use, and a complete absence of herbicides or soil cultivation.

Biodiversity flourishes within the vineyards. Wildflower areas attract beneficial insects, while the lack of soil cultivation reduces carbon emissions. The winery closes the loop on waste by composting production materials and using the resulting tea to nourish the soil. Additionally, spring brings sheep who graze among the vines, naturally fertilizing the land.

Special spray nozzles minimize drift during vine treatment, ensuring targeted application. This meticulous approach reflects the winery's deep commitment to responsible land management.

  • Iapetus wines are a direct reflection of their terroir. The winery prioritizes soil and vine health, using natural yeasts for fermentation. This minimal intervention allows the unique character of each season to shine through in the final product.
