Millbrook Winery
-
John Dyson, a Cornell graduate with a newfound passion for wine, co-founded Millbrook Vineyards & Winery in 1982. This marked a first for the Hudson River region – a winery dedicated solely to vinifera grapes. Driven by innovation and experimentation, Dyson partnered with John Graziano, a Master Winemaker, and together they established a thriving business.
Initial plantings of Chardonnay, Pinot Noir, and Cabernet Sauvignon proved successful, leading to expansion and the official opening for tours and tastings in 1998. Today, the 30-acre estate boasts Pinot Noir, Chardonnay, Cabernet Franc, and even the Italian Tocai Friulano grape. Their dedication to quality has been consistently recognized by industry leaders like Wine Spectator, The New York Times, and Bon Appetit.
Millbrook Vineyards & Winery is part of a larger family of esteemed wineries, a testament to Dyson's enduring passion for the craft.

1983 marked the first plantings at Millbrook, with the gravelly southwest slopes proving ideal for viticulture. The co-founders believe the Hudson Valley's unique terroir, with its deep, well-drained soils and excellent sun exposure, surpasses even Finger Lakes and Long Island grapes (though they do source some fruit from those regions). They credit this prime location for the exceptional quality of their wines.
