Stella14

  • Drawing inspiration from Vermont's rich history, Stella14 Winery takes its name from the "Stella Quarta Decima" copper coin, minted in 1785 with the hope of Vermont becoming the 14th star in the young nation. This spirit of pioneering innovation resonates with Master Sommelier David Keck and his partner Lauren Droege. In 2020, they left the Houston hospitality scene to pursue their winemaking dream in Vermont. Their journey began that summer by leasing established vineyards from David and Linda Boyden in Cambridge, Vermont. These historic plots, boasting some of the oldest vines in the state, are dedicated to Frontenac Noir, Marquette, and Frontenac Blanc grapes.

  • When David and Lauren took over vineyard management in June 2020, the vines were unpruned. They tackled this task swiftly to optimize the remaining growing season. Committed to sustainable practices, they transitioned the vineyards to organic viticulture, utilizing sulfur, copper, and stylet oil to combat fungal diseases. True to Vermont's cold climate, all their grapes are cold-hardy hybrid varieties, primarily Frontenac Blanc, Frontenac Noir, and Marquette.

  • Stella14 offers vibrant, fresh wines crafted with minimal intervention, showcasing the potential of hybrid grapes like Marquette and Frontenac (both Blanc and Noir).
